Zhengfeng-Heng: Five generations of jade jewelry business
The business history of the Gao family dates back to an ancestor named Gao Fuxi. In the 1870's, following the troops of the Western Expeditionary Army, this trader walked all the way from TianJin, (Gao's hometown, located in the eastern costal region of northern China ) to Xinjiang (a province of north western China ). For the following decades, his business enjoyed a tremendous development, so that in 1894 his son, Gao Zhengui, established the firm Zhenfeng-Heng, located in Yili and Urumqi (two cities in XinJiang). The business created and sold jade, silk, and gold jewelry.
However, in the year of 1937, the Gao family decided to close Zhenfeng-Heng and move back to their hometown due to the many consecutive wars in XinJiang. A couple years later, Rong-guang, the son of Gao Zhengui inherited and rebuilt Zhenfeng-Heng in the downtown of TianJin. It became another success for the Gao family. Zhenfeng-Heng survived during the Second World War and Chinese Civil War; meanwhile the business also expanded to ShangHai in 1942. However, Zhenfeng-Heng was finally shut down in the year of 1950 due to the after effects of the Chinese Civil War.
Rong-guang died in 1969 during the Great Culture Revaluation. He had been sent away from his wife and children at the time of his death.
At the beginning of the new millennium , the fourth generation of the Gao family once again inherited the business name “Zhenfeng-Heng,” and reestablished it to “Zhenfeng- Heng Trading & development Co. ltd,” specializing in fine Chinese jade jewelry, in their hometown of Tianjin.
In 2005, one of Rong-guang's granddaughters is bringing this line of jade jewelry to America .
“Heng ” in Chinese means eternity, for this reason, we named this line of jewelry Everjade.
